Have you grown up, Wendy...?

December 04, 2015

When as a child I watched Peter Pan, I probably didn't understand it. Or at least I don't remember my reaction. It was just a fairy tale for me. It's hard to say whether I cried like with The Lion King, or laughed like with Mulan.
When at the beginning of my teenage years I watched the same production, in addition to sighing for Jeremy Sumpter (because in my little finger I had not only cartoons but also films based on the same story), I wondered how Peter would want to be in Neverland, when with Wendy he could return to the normal world. It seemed ridiculous to me that anyone would want to be in this imaginary land. Leave your family, your whole life, everything what you care about.
Today, I don't watch Peter Pan. I don't have time for this.

Although I don't have time because I'm so absorbed by the matters of everyday life and social media I know perfectly well what I could think about the fairy tale. Even if I don't exactly remember how it goes. And supposedly I'm an expert on fairy tales.
I would throw everything and flew to Neverland. Not because I don't want to grow up. Legally I'm already an adult. Not because I would like to still playing. It would be tiring. Nor because that world is beautiful. Because it's not.
But the fact that it exists, that it's different, and most of all - that resident creatures have an impact on it, it's amazing. As a child doesn't see certain things, actually I still cannot see many of them. But as a child you already have your problems. We underestimate them because we don't seem them serious. Just like the elderly treat our worries. In theory it's simple - the older you are the harder life is. From the beginning is like that but because of this relationship, as the strict mind and humanist could say, almost in direct proportion, as being toddlers we don't want to run away. We grow up, nothing keeps us at home, we want to conquer the world. And here it's impossible.
A ponoć jestem ekspertem w sprawie bajek.
Rzuciłabym wszystko i poleciała do Nibylandii. Nie dlatego, że nie chcę dorosnąć. Prawnie już jestem dorosła. Nie dlatego, że chciałabym się ciągle bawić. To byłoby męczące.

When I was a child, I wanted to be a princess. Not to mention a singer, dancer and actress. Over the years I made up myself that, however, I'll give up a seat on the throne and take care of choreography and writing. Because why not be the most famous writer in the world? But I never could finish even one chapter of a book. So I headed towards television. And I had much more changes like tkat. The last today's morning.
I takich zmian miałam jeszcze wiele. Ostatnią dzisiaj rano.

Each of us has goals in life, right? I'm not talking about a new handbag or travel abroad. I mean a general outline of the future. You might think about a rich husband (resp wife). Alternatively, you assume that your other half doesn't have to be special wealthy, but simply it will be enough if he/she will love you until the end of the world. You will have a house with a garden behind the town, three cats and two dogs. Others may dream rather about a good job, in which will promote in the speed of light, and finally sit as directors, presidents, or who knows who. There are many options, there's also one that assumes absolutely no plans. Alternatively, such that simply can't be achieved in the current world.

I think I belong to the last category. Some part of you too, but maybe are trying to not admit ir, or even have not realized it yet.
Do you remember Mickiewicz? It's this one from forty and four. He created some Gustav, whether Konrad and preached that you have to look for values higher than those that we have available in our daily lives. As how proud that Adam would be if he knew that we make use of his texts on matura exams, in order that young people puzzled about the meaning of poetry! At this point, it's important that Adam apart from being young and angry, showed us an alternative. Escape to the world of books, escape from reality. What about the fact that his hero died because of that.

Some time ago, I asked a friend how he copes with life in this evil world. He said he did not know because he didn't see that. I fell silent.
A few days later, took place all the attacks and earthquakes. I didn't ask again.
In an age when we are after two world wars, when we can't really say how the situation will look like tomorrow, when we all seek in ourselves the worst, trust disappears, everything is focused in ourselves and our needs... I wonder, what went wrong. Really.

Unfold all your doubts - this post is about not growing up and not suffocate in this world, that on each side restricts us. Though it's impossible.
Wendy grew up, right? She had her family, Peter was completely alone. Just like Edward Scissorhands. The end of the movie is so sad that I can't watch it again.
I'm at the stage where I have to choose a field of study. There are many things that I'd like to do and equally many that I cross out at the start. But when I pick myself this direction, familiarized with the space requirements, I come the thought that no matter what I'll do and I can't deal with everything without connections in a particular field, right? Because this's how this world is built. To outsiders it's something awful, though some may not care about it. For those inside there are only profits.
Dla tych z wewnątrz to same profity.

But it's not possible. I believe that we can create our own Neverland. We create this country, this world. How much our life would be meaningless if we will not be able to do anuthing with it? And how awful it would be if we could never achieve our goals, cope ambitions.
Ale to wcale nie jest możliwe. Wierzę, że możemy sobie stworzyć swoją własną Nibylandię. To my tworzymy to państwo, ten świat.
